THE PATTERN WE COULDN'T IGNORE
In our work with nonprofits and filmmakers across the last 20 years, we saw the same pattern: leaders running on empty, projects not fully embraced by their audiences, and funding that never quite materialized. The problem wasn't effort or intention. It was how projects were being built.
Likewise Impact Lab was built to help leaders design projects differently so that impact leaders, their funders, and their audiences are aligned and excited.
DEEP WORK MAKES
THE DIFFERENCE
Leaders who invest upfront in thoughtful research and design raise faster and need to recover less.
AUDIENCE
Likewise helps you collaborate with your audience and build a deeper understanding of who you are serving.
FUNDERS
The right funders already exist. The work is finding them and building real relationships, not pitching to the void.
LEADERS
A project is only as sustainable as the person behind it. Likewise treats leader capacity as a design requirement rather than an afterthought.
Meet the Team
JENNIFER PELLING CO-FOUNDER
Jennifer brings over 20 years of consulting, philanthropy, and film experience to the team. She helps clients understand the mindset of funders and brings a relational, impact-oriented lens to all her work.
While working with executive directors and film directors, she noticed that many of them struggled with the same questions: Will this project actually make a difference? How do I build the right team? How can I feel less alone and overwhelmed? In response to those needs, she and Justin combined their forces to create Likewise Impact Lab.
Jennifer continues to chair an anti-poverty philanthropic foundation and a global fellowship that supports emerging leaders in Southeast Asia and Africa. She has executive-produced more than 40 major documentaries.
JUSTIN RICHARDS CO-FOUNDER
Justin leads the team in running research and design processes to help leaders connect with and understand the audiences. In addition, he provides direct support to leaders through the day-to-day challenges they face. Over the past six years, he’s worked with more than 20 social impact films, nonprofits, and startups.
Previously, he was the Founder/CEO of an EdTech startup that taught students ages 8-14 how to code, design, and create with technology. The company developed a platform that scaled to teach 100,000 students online in 100 countries and in person in 17 states.
Justin holds a degree in cross-cultural ethics and grew up working with a nonprofit that brought computer schools to orphanages in Eastern Europe.
